Agreed on the canfields, maybe a custom cam to get the most out of it.

only that if your using stock bottom end the pistons need to be notched, if you look up at the beginning of the 5.0 page where all the threads and stickies and all that are, there should still be one up there about patriot heads and what they gained on a carbed 5.0 from texas hot rods.
Not true... I am running stock bottom end and I did not need to notch my pistons.

Here are the specs that Patriot sent me.

Intake Volume: 185cc
Chamber Volume: 60cc
Intake Valve: 2.02" 4.910"
Exhaust Valve: 1.6" 4.910"
Valve Job: 5 Angle
Spring Diameter: 1.450" O.D. .750" I.D.
Spring Type: Double with Dampner

Max Lift: .550 (hydraulic Roller)

ok well what cam are you using, a stock cam? im sure once you put anything even decent cam wise that you will need to notch em, if not then what cams could you run with those heads and still not notch?

I am still using the stock cam. I am not sure what cams would require you to notch... You would need to call Patriot and I am sure they could tell you.

wouldnt the pistons only have to be notched if your putting a cam in with over .512 lift??

notching pistons has more to do then with just the lift has to do with all the cam specs duration lift and overlap, there is no set amount of lift, i have a steeda with 1.7s which is 5.16 lift and mine do not need to be notched. The only way to know for sure is if someone has run the same cam and heads without notching or claying and seeing for sure.
