i bought a 86 with a rebuilt motor. the car has no fuel pressure and i cant find out whats wrong with it. i dropped the tank and i dont think the fuel pump is gettin power. if i spray ether in the intake it fires up but i cant get the thing to run. any help would be great

pump relay on my '86 Capri 5.0 is under driver seat. Is the pump turning on? Do you hear a Hum????slight hum?, fuel filter clogged????

checl the fuel shut off switch, put a fuel filter on it, check your hot wire to the pump, maby it is cut, also check the ground.

where is the fuel pump relay on the 86. if it matters the wiring harness is out of a 89 i believe. it was converted to mass air. the fuel pump will not come on. no hum or any pressure

check fuse then relay then power at pump then the ground for the pump

where is the power source for the fuel pump. i cant find it, is it inside or in the engine compartment. just checking if the wiring harnesses are the same, also where is the fuel pump relay, im trying my hardest to get this thing running. is there any way i could rerun the fuel pump wire if i need to.

not to sound smart or anything, but is their gas in the car, i was tuning the other day and i ran out lol

Dud don't guess if you got the tank down use a test meater in the wire harnnes put the key in the run possion see if you do got power back thare . if not the relay is the first place to look . they go bad a lot , then thare is the cut off switch . they are incase you in a accdent it impact sencative it cuts off the fuel pump so you don't burn to death . they trip some times for no reason .

use a test meater dont guess you cant see electricty . and dont rule out the pump being bad , gas is a solvent and a broken pump will look bright and shinney new . if you got power back thare hook up a test jumpper wire that you know is hot and plug it into the pump if it works that is not your prolbem you got to test evry thing befor you rule it out as not yor prolbem . start with the eays stuf like the realy and cut off then get into the stuff that is tough to get to

i checked the wiring with a volt meter and it wasnt reading anything. i took the wire off the reset switch and its getting 3.5 volts with the key on. i dont know where the relay is, this is my first fuel injected mustang and the wiring is out of a 89 if that matters. where is the fuel pump relay. and it does have gas, it had a full tank until i dropped the tank

if your getting juice to the cutoff switch the relay is working , if you wer on the inertia switch switch it is working also right under the hatch back latch the fuel relay is under the hood near the eec test port it is the green one shaped like a cube like 1 1/2"
