need help what is this box thing in the engine compartment(please asap)
what is the box thingy under where the airbox or intake? it looks like it has two **** looking things on the top & has a vacume hose going to the manifold that has a sensor or something on it & another cabel going into the fender/firewall onthe pasanger side. what is it & the sensor? the hose going to the manifole is old and cracked but i need to know what sensor it has and what the part is to decide if i even need it thanks i have the car torn apart and it is my daily driver so a quick responce wold be nice

It's the filter used for venting the gas fumes from the fuel tank. One hose is the fuel tank breather, and the other hose is the vacuum supply to extract the fumes from the charcoal filter box into the intake, the solenoid is used to control when and for how long the "purging" occurs as determined by the EFI computer.

You can get rid of it if you are going to bypass your smog pump.
