Alternator for a 89 GT (any suggestions?)
I recently started delivering News papers at night to make some spare cash, And noticed my alternator was not looking to good (i was told prior to this that it was not great, and could use an upgrade). I have to drive with my Hazard lights, map light, Heater, Headlights, and...generally my radio (ok, So i dont HAVE to.. But sitting in silence for 2 hours can get a tad quiet.Ha)
Anyways... I wanted to get my alternator replaced today, and called around to the local parts stores, Only to find out that all they could find is the stock 75amp ones.
So I went to summitracing.com, and looked at alternators, as well as read some stuff online, And now it seems like i have quite a few choices, But not much knowledge on the subject.
I was looking at the 140amp Powermaster one on Summit...but also heard that one off a '94 mustang might be a better choice?
Anyone have any knowledge in this area? Its an 89 GT hatch with a Pioneer premium stereo... and I plan on soon putting in 2 10" subs and a small Amplifier or two, as well as whatever else down the road... Nothing to big though...Just common stuff. And i am looking to spend under $200 (because i also need to replace the starter and fuel pump soon...So i have to afford all three in the next few weeks.).
Thanks everyone.

RE: Alternator for a 89 GT (any suggestions?)
i bought a summit 100 amp alternator and it charges great but it only lasted a year before the regulator went out. i heard the 3g ones require some modification to use. the summit one will not use the factory plug in bottom of alternator so you will need to know where the green and yellow wire goes when it installs.
