why does my stock exhaust look like it has 2 cats on each side?
it looks like there is a cat just after the factory headers and then at about the middle of the car. it is the same looking on each side...

is this normall . do i have to have 4 cats or when i get new exhaust can i just put one on each side. is it suppost to have 4 cats because of smog requirements? i wonder if i get a new exhaust system and only put 2 cats on if it will still pass smog

I dont run cats it sounds better i was gonna switch my stock pipe with four cats back on for emissions but my state is getting rid of it so i am good but if you have emissions get a BBK or Mac h-pipe or x-pipe with high flow cats there is one on each side if your vehicle has over 50,000 miles on it thats legal or you could get one without cats and swap ur old one back on when it comes time for emissions personally i would swap the old one back on for emissoins cause 5.0 Mustangs sound so much better without cats and i hate tree huggers but it's ur choice.

YOu only need the two cats but on the other hand your not supposed to mod exhaust ha ha yah right i think you should swap the old back on for emissions then put your after market x pipe back on, 5.0 sound awsome when you rip those things off.

i thought it was 2 cats and 2 resionators? i run no cats to hehe it sounds bad ***, with no mufflers that sounds great, open headers is the best lol

HMMM i was pretty sure it was four catalytic converters pretty sure they are four upstream and downstream the 4.6L mustangs came with 6 of those damn things i about sh*t when i saw six i ripped mine off and BBK x-pipe no cats sounds so good i am probably alos gonna get rid of the smog pump and egr valve i hate tree huggers lol 5.0's sound so much better without cats.

i want something that i can put on for improvement but i dont want to play the game of taking it off and putting on the old stock just to smog.
so , i can have just 2 and ill be fine ?
