why would you use a 180 instead of a 160?

Is there any way to test the TFI?

Its got a lunati cam not sure what kind of grind, edelbrock performer alum. heads, gt-40 intake, 70 mm tb, with mass air tuned, 24# inj fuel pressure set at 35psi. I just had a valve job done and he said the springs should work with the cam he said they were all within the recommended 110lbs. Before valve job I had a intake valve bent and a exhaust not sealing.

You can test yourignition moduleyourself if you know the resistance to look for, i am sure if you search you can find answers to that. Or you can take it and get it tested at any parts store.

automatic? mine cut out at 5500, its set at 5,600 in the EEC. the tach can be just a tad off, the aod and 4.10's can play havoc, the computer needs to be played with so ur shifts are correct. also, make sure ur ignition and fuel system are working correctly, (eec and ignition/fuel) both will cause break up in the engine rpm. also you could be out the power band like some1 said before.

no it's a 5 speed T-5 transmission, but thats possible I need to get the computer worked on but not willing to spend the money I guess. If I decide to keep the car I probably will but now I have to deal with the overheating issue.

well that new TFI didnt fix it I just dont understand Ive tried everything I know I guess its time to just take it to somebody. I have plenty of fuel pressure at WOT and it runs to good in 1st thru 3rd to be anything to major.

It cuts out only in 4th and 5th around 4,000 rpms.

because 160 is to cool and on a cold day it may not reach 160 on highway and to cool of a t-stat will affect closed loop ecm operation and possibly keep car running in open loop off of a preprogrammed set of ecm parameters instead of actual sensor inputs to the ecm
