Default cutting off at 5 grand

my car is cutting out at 5,000 rpms like its hitting rev limiter its geared 411 is there anything that would cause this like a servo or sensor or anything.

Also car overheated today and cut off, any advice on keeping the temp down. Any advice on different radiator to use. It has factory radiator with 160 thermostat, and electric fan.

Also when it gets hot it dont wanna start back what causes this

Thanks

4.11's are bottom end gears, not top end so you might be at the end of the powerband, especially on a stock motor.

i would use a 180 tstat, and check your tfi module. Its the little rectangular peice that sits on your distributor.

I have a 91 GT and it is doing the same thing. It will not rev past 5,000 rpm in neutral or while driving. And it also starts to lose power at around 4,000. Sounds just like a rev limiter at 5,000. I just ordered a new set of valve springs for mine, because i am having valve float. What cam, heads, and other mods do you havedone to your car? I have an e-cam with 351w heads and i am pretty sure the springs just aren't enough for my cam. But first of all i would check your fuel delivery and ignition system.

why would you use a 180 instead of a 160?

Is there any way to test the TFI?

Its got a lunati cam not sure what kind of grind, edelbrock performer alum. heads, gt-40 intake, 70 mm tb, with mass air tuned, 24# inj fuel pressure set at 35psi. I just had a valve job done and he said the springs should work with the cam he said they were all within the recommended 110lbs. Before valve job I had a intake valve bent and a exhaust not sealing.

I would recommend the 180 because i believe thats stock and 160 is too cool imo. Also, I don't know of any way to test a tfi module, however there really cheap, like 35 bucks, and i would put money on it thats one of your issues.

stator in the dizzy for the "rev limiter" problem. a 180 degree t-stat would be ok, but that may not be your problem with overheating. you just need to diagnose it.

Have you checked fuel pressure at wot? If it only does it under a load it kinda sounds like its lacking fuel pressure.
