Default is this cam with 1.7rr ok?

is this cam with 1.7rr p+p cobra gt40s, cobra intake, frpp shorties, orx pipe, flows, a good setup? im lost when it comes to cams. i need smog legal, good power to at least 5500rpm's, and no valves smacking the heads. the heads are not milled more more than just a clean up. i also want an idle that is not jumping around,so these crane cams "emissions legal, computer compatible" cams sound good. my concern is that they have less duration and more lift, which may or may not be a problem with my 1.7's.

That cam with 1.7s is going to have some serious lift, have you looked at the Steeda #19 cam? It has low lift so it's good with 1.7s and it has nice duration, plus its computer friendly and should pass emissions.

thats alot of lift as is... you dont need all that for gt40 ****. im doin a gt40 build now with only .512 lift, and similar duration numbers, more lsa tho.

If you're stuck with a package from Summit and 1.7 rockers, check........

Dimebag, lift and the possibility of PtV issues are "non-related" items, you could have a .600" lift cam and not have the valves touch anything....... or a .480" lift cam that would require heavy piston notching (these are examples BTW, not saying that you would need or use any of those)....... but with the specifications of that camshaft + it's CARB approved (= "emissions friendly"), the possibility of having any PtV issues is very low, BUT YOU ALWAYS NEED TO CHECK! .......

The cycle that causes PtV problems is the overlap, when both valves are open (exhaust closing and intake opening) at the same time, piston is in the TDC vicinity (very close to the valves), and the valves are only .015" - .155" (dependent on cam specs) off of their seats.... reason why total valve lift has no bearing on PtV problems.
