new motor
looking to buy a nice motor setup. would 1500$ be enough to make something with? ive found some stock ones for 800-1000 with 2 year warranties. if not going that way what would you guys do with 1500$ if i need a little more fine but im trying to stay around that.

RE: new motor
You get what you pay for when it comes to most things in life. I dont know about that 800-1000 for a full motor or is it a stock as a rock short block? I would take that 1500 and get the motor you have freshened up with new bearing, rings, gasketsetc.

RE: new motor
it was for a longblock without sheet metal and accessories. how much would it be to get mine rebuilt? i think the bottom end is still good but who knows when i pull the heads. maybe it will just need the heads rebuilt just as i originally thought.

First and foremost, I would check the condition ofthe motor you have. Run a compression test, dry then wet. This willtell you a lot about the condition of your rings and valves. Make your decision based on what you find. Maybeyou could use that money for a better set of heads?.
