Easy question about car sitting up for a long period of time
If my car were to be sitting up for a long period of time would it be a good idea to let it run until it is out of gas before doing so? Its a 95 gt. Is there any other fluids I would need to worry about also?

gas thing isnt a bad idea, or cant you just use stabilizer?
as for other fluids, i dunno what to do about the oil, if anything
the coolant i would drain/refill

about the stabillizer. My car has actually already been sitting for a while so I'm sure the gas is probably already getting old so I thought it would be smarter just to run it out of gas instead of stabilizing halfway old gas.
Any other imput?

buy some stabil and put it in the tank anyways. out here they have an oil stabilizer for storing you cars but ive never heard any feedback from it.

If you run it empty, after letting your car sit, you'll probably have moisture in your tank and who knows where else. More chance of rust i think. id say put stabilizer in the tank.

...I wouldn't run it out of gas. Can't that destroy the fuel pump. Also, all the crap in the bottom of the tankwould getsucked into the fuel system. Not to mention rust like other people have said.

You are suppose to Fill the Tank with gas, and add stabil. Any room in the tank, lets moisture getting leaving the tank vulnerable to rust. You should also change the oil, old oil can store HC's and promote deterioration. I just read about this in one of the mustang mags. It is also not a bad Idea to get the wheels off the ground to avoid flat spots on your tires.

Cold storage is another issue. If so I'd remove the battery and take it indoors and buy winter gas before storage.
Summer gas can easily freeze in the winter.
Clean the car as best you can. Lube, wax and vacuum.
I totally agree with storage with a full fuel tank and never let it sit with old engine oil.
Also prefer pumping up the tires and leaving the car on the ground. Flat spot tires have never been a problem that I've noticed.
