it lets exhaust into your intake to be re-used. if it gets stuck closed youll be fine but have trouble passing smog. if it gets stuck open youll loose a little hp up top

you loose power by having that exhaust in there. so if it gets stuck open youd loose a bit of power

Just wondering, but what is the easiest thing to do to keep it closed at all times? Is there something I can unplug or something?

Hey all not to hyjack the thread but i think i may have the same problem... If the egr is stuck will it throw the check engine light??? My light is comeing on at low rpms (not idle) and when i am cruising it will come on but not stay on it will sortof blink, like fluctuate on and off.. Is this my problem, the EGR???? I need to know because i have to be smogged today..

Again sorry i did not mean to hyjack the thread in any way but really need to know if this is my problem....
