ok i have a 90 lx mustang with a c6 transmission in it and i have been thinking about puttin some mods into the car and make it for drag strip i was just wondering if it is worth it to put a shift kit in a c6 tranny and if that tranny is a good choice for what i want to do with the car.

the c6 has been a dam good tranny to me but what i have it in is a bronco. its takin atleast 7 years of pure abuse from selected persons.

A C6 would do, but I'd lean towards the C4. It takes less power to run, its lighter, and can take a beating. The C4 came on small blocks (289, 302, 351) and the C6 was mostly for bigger engines, or bigger cars/trucks/vans. I was talked out of a C6, but if you want the extra beaf, then go for it. A shift kit will help the firmness of the shifts, and make it shift quicker into gear. I had one in my AOD and it felt nice... untill it did its thing and [:'(]on me lol. i would deff go with the C4 for a small block like chadwick86 said. they can take ALOT of beating and come out fine. a guy down the street from me had a c4 in his running 11s.. but then went to a crate 514 big block and a c6 (runs 10.2 now)
