bent pushrod
well started on tear down of my engine....found out i bent a pushrod...well its my fault...i stuck my old stock pushrods with a new cam and new full roller rockers....so it bent one of my exhaust pushrods....so what you guys think? thats thats why it happend i told my dad that was probably a dumb mistake on my part for puttin 100,000 mile pushrods with a new cam and heads and rockers....so what all could this mess up...it didnt drop a valve...luckly the rocker moved to the side and kept the valve open...but thats a bad thing to right? when the exhaust valve stays closed....what else to you think im goin to have to do to redo my mistake...new pushrods and lifters...anyone got any suggestions with a good set of pushrods that would be stock length or would work? and lifters also....im kinda on a budget...so lets keep that in mind but what youguys think about all this...

RE: bent pushrod
you can get comp hardened pushrods for about 30 bucks a set - you need to know what length to get though. how did your geometry look with the stock length? do your new heads have guideplates? you cant run guideplates with OEM pushrods (which is why you need hardened ones). did you say you have a valve stuck open? i would surely make sure nothing is bent, you can fill the ports with gas or some other random liquid and see if it runs past the head of the valve into the chamber of the head (if the heads are off). if not, compression test once you get it back together.
oh and you shouldnt need new lifters unless you fuxored one up

RE: bent pushrod
dude you HAVE to check the length. first, draw a line down the middle or color the tip of the valve with a marker. now, with the cam lobe all the way down assemble and tighten the rocker down (if pedestal) or go to zero lash plus 1/2 turn (if you have studs)...... look at where the rocker tip is resting on the valve. now, rotate the motor so the valve opens and closes again. now take the rocker off and see where the tip is shiney, it should have rubbed the marker off where the rocker rubbed. it should be fairly close to center on the tip of the valve. if its not, you can use your head to figure out if you need to go a little shorter or a little longer but alot of the time stock length is ok especially with adjustable valvetrain.
