Default manual tranny

i have driven but never worked on or installed a manual tranny till now.What I need to know is wheir do you install the fluid or gear oil????? I had to remove the motor and tranny and install a new motor but most if not all the Tranny oil leaked out. what gear oil should I buy and wheir do I install it. The tranny is from a 94 mustang GT.

there are two plugs on the side of the tranny that look like a 3/8" square. the bottom one is the drain plug the top one is the fill plug. you'll need a suction gun to fill it and a 3/8' ratchet to remove the plugs. drain it, replace lower plug remove upper plug. suck the tranny fluid from thr bottle and place the tube in the upper hole, repeat untill fluid runs out of the hole, replace plug. should take dexron mercon 4 atf but check your owners mannual first.

so a mustang manual tranny uses mercon automatic tranny oil ????? I bought three quarts of gear oil and was about to add that but from the post it say atf mercon is this correct. I have no owner manual for my car

True, do NOT use reg gear oil. Ford stopped using that in the early '90s. Use ATF- if you aren't sure what exact kind I'm pretty sure the guys at the auto parts stores can look that up for you.
