fast idle

Default fast idle

my 89 5.0 is idling around 2 grand 90% of the time its running but it sometimes idles around 1000-1500. what is causing this and how do i fix it

well the vaccum lines should be located under the right fender. check them with a gauge or go to a shop that can. you might want to get this checked fast. i let mine go and from time to time my car would just shut off when i came to stops. but its fixed now.

Does it drop back to stock idle speed if you turn it off and restart it? My '87 would do that. TPS was bad.

your best bet is to turn on the car and listen for any air, and if you hear anythin(air suction) then plug it up, you may b able to use like intake cleaner or somethin to check but spray it in the area where you hear the suction and if the rpms jump then thats where the vaccume leak is at
