Default Heater core replacement in 85 w/ a/c

Does the dash need to be completely removed on an 85 GT with with air conditioning or can the heater core be replaced through the glove box. Anyone happen to have any cheats to make this job a bit easier. Thanks for any help.

Your worst nightmare come true.[sm=badbadbad.gif]
With an A/C car you have to remove the dash and discharge the A/C system.
Actually its not that bad.

If it was a non a/c it would be easy.

Thanks for the heads up fourfivefour, I am helping a buddy out with his car, hopefully I will be good at how to do these since my 87 will eventually need a heater core as well.

actually no you don't have to remove the whole dash......just discharge the a/c and remove the blower motor and the 2 screws that hold the heater box to the firewall and the one or two on the inside I believe and the glove box remove it...and then if you move the box just right you can get it partially over the hump and then gain acess to the 4 screws holding the cover on the top...it takes a little patience but with the right rachet screwdriver it can be done.........I can do mine in less than 1.5 hrs remove and replace and purge the system of all air.......mine still has the evaporator in it too!! but you'll need to disconnect the reciever dryer and move the assembley out of the way
