Default 7500 Rpm ?

I was out on road a couple nights ago testing my car for race season. I happened to see just how high this engine could rev with a near-stock valvetrain. After doing a burnout I tached it out, bouncing off the rev limiter at 7500 rpms. The engine is a near stock 302 bottom end with a custom lunati cam with 250 duration @0.050, 605 lift. untouched afr 185s with AFR hi-rev springs. trickflow r intake & more.

I heard AFR heads are having alot of problems with dropping valves at low rpms (like 6000-6500). Is this true? Should I have any worry of dropping a valve with these heads.

Hmmm...lets try to keep the revs a little lower than 7500 from now on...how about that?

I know 7500 rpms is high rpm. But I just wasnted to know if anyone else heard that AFR heads were dropping valves.

Stock rev limiter is 6,200rpm

Yes AFR's are notorious for weak "factory" valve train parts.
I broke an AFR rocker stud with out even trying.

Unless your car is purpose built to turn that high (NMRA Pure Street/NMRA Hot Street) you are doing nothing but hurting your engine. The AFR hi-rev kit is a joke. No reputable engine/head man will use that. We run the absolute best stuff in our engines and still hurt the components turning that high. That stock bottom end's days are numbered.
