I'm looking at the full 1/4 mile. I've watched some of the stock suspension racing on t.v. and would really like to get into that.

no car stock suspension will get 7's. no way no how. your talking about building a car that is 50% or so more powerful and faster than anything else you see on the streets, theres a reason there arent any of these things rolling around

It's not all about motor, it's the complete drive train and suspension as well. I think you need a lil more perspective about what it will take and what you are actually trying to accomplish on a 30K budget. 2 entirely different things.

I have another post in the general mustang forum for drivetrain, fuel system, suspension, etc.

My dad's car is a true 9 second street car. He has working headlights, heater, windshield wipers, exhaust, and passes Virginia state inspection. He runs mid 9s at 140+ mph on street tires through mufflers on motor, no nitrous. He has $20,000 in his long block easy. With power adders it's possible but how "streetable" are you talking?

youll need at least 1200 hp (easily made)
parachute, traction bars and wheels, roll cage and Chassis Reinforcement, with slicks etc.
You can do it.

On my parts to order tomorrow will be a dart block, some sort of crank, rods, pistons to stuff in it, all accessories, timing chain, oil pump, pan, timing cover, dipstick, etc..
Which heads and cam should I run? Also while ordering things tomorrow (if I can find vendors that are open for business) what other things should I get on order ?

Are there any vehicle inspections in your state? I work at a shop that builds round tube frame race cars. The owner built a round tube chromoly '62 Falcon with a 665ci Ford Boss style engine and a Lenco. He sold it in November to a man that is going to street drive that. It won't pass inspection in Virginia, legaly. He ran it at the Presidents cup race at MIR last year and it went high7s low 8sN/A. Doing it in a stock style suspension car isgoing to take some serious work. Where areyou located?
