B cam VS. Steeda #18
Okay, I am going to buy one of these cams. I am going to be running 1.7 RR's, that is why I am going low lift. Also I might be running some gt40 P'slater on so I going to try and keep around .500 lift. Which one should I use? The only thing different is the durations, can you explain why one is better than the other??
B cam
.480 intake lift
.480 exhaust lift
224* duration on both at .050
Lobe Separation 112*
Steeda # 18
.480 intake lift
.480 exhaust lift
Duration 220* @ 0.050 intake
Duration 226* @ 0.050 exhaust
Lobe Separation 112*
B cam
.480 intake lift
.480 exhaust lift
224* duration on both at .050
Lobe Separation 112*
Steeda # 18
.480 intake lift
.480 exhaust lift
Duration 220* @ 0.050 intake
Duration 226* @ 0.050 exhaust
Lobe Separation 112*

RE: B cam VS. Steeda #18
i want to say that duration has to do with how long the valve is open, and if its longer on the exhaust side then it causes the scavaging effect. I'm not sure on that though???
are you running stock heads right now??? if you want close to .500 lift then go with an e303. it runs .498/.498. The B cam is just milder. I think the steeda 18 might be a SD friendly cam too, not sure if you're MAF or not

I am running stock heads, ported. The reason I don't want to run a E cam is because I am going to run 1.7rr that add about .030 lift.
BTW, I am converted to MAF.

I'd go with the Steeda #18 because it's a dual pattern cam which 5.0s tend to like. I'm also slightly biased

On the subject of cams, is there a such thing as an "M" cam?
Some dude was looking over my car and started going nuts telling me that I had all sorts of things loaded into it, one thing he mentioned was an "M" cam. Tell me, was this dude on crack like I originally thought?

I'm in the same boat, Steeda18 vs. E-cam. Leaning toward the Steeda, because I am running ported e7s and the Steeda is bias toward exhaust side. Just forthought, I see used e-cams for sale everywhere, but finding a used Steeda 18 is much more difficult. So hopefully people who run them like them, that or nobody buys them.
