the sn 95 computers just need a lot of degrees of lobe separation so theres lots of vaccuum at idle and the steeda 19 with 1.7s is 516 lift.

alot of seperation will hurt top end performance, wont it? that means the exhaust vacuum wont help pull in more air on the intake stroke, correct? so all the air it gets is on the natraul vacuum of the intake cycle downstroke. i suppose its better for emmisions though.

what about the smog legal crane cams? has anyone ran any of these?

yes the more degrees in separation the better in bottom end and not top, but you need at least a 114 separation angle at least in 94-95's without the computer having trouble idling and other tuning problems.

it's actually .510 lift...

wouldn't that also depend on the cam's overall duration? Since they run hand in hand... Idk just a thought.

Regardless of LSA the Steeda cam is still good to 6000rpm, if you want higher revs you may want to look into a different cam.

well in my steeda mag i got with my 19 cam it says that its 516 with 1.7s thats waht im going off of, and as for the separation angle i was just using 114 as a general rule, since i dont know of any cam with less separation that will work fine with the stock computer and no dyno tune unless maybe its a custom cam.

Nope..... they are separate, not dependent characteristics. You could have a 218/224 duration cam ground at 108, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116 LSA. As an example, you have the Comp Cams XE270HR cam in -12 and -14 variations....... the XE270HR-12 has 112 LSA and the XE270HR-14 has 114 LSA.....same duration, same lobe lift, same lobes profile.

Setting a cam "LSA rule" is also misleading, the E-303 is also a CARB exempt cam, and has a 110 LSA besides, the computer in the SN95 doesn't measure LSA of the cam installed, or the loss of vacuum at idle a performance cam could create, it's not a speed density system....and the (2) SN95 I worked with the E-303 are still driving around w/out any driveability problems, and no aftermarket tuner was used. Another important detail when installing CARB exempt cams (or any OTS cam IMO)..... it needs to be degreed. A variation in the valve events timing will affect emissions. The tolerances of the cam + timing gears set + crankshaft usually cause them to be ~4° advanced or retarded some times. The last one I did in a SC SN95 was installed 4° advanced, but using the 0° crankshaft gear slot of the timing kit..... CO emissions and A/F are OK, but HC emissions are on the high side @idle....IOW, it's not a "bolt-on" deal..... my.

Yes get a cam I have the tfs stage 1 and I have idle issues if had it to do over I would get the steeda #19 we dont have a sniffer test in virginia yet just a visual...you guys who get your emissions checked need to go buy a tuner and put your idle air/fuel at like 22.1 <<---thats high as heck but you get my point.
