Default $$$ Cost of Gear change?

Hey guys, have a A+ condition 88GT 122,000 stick, near future upgrade is a h pipe, BBk headers, and probably Flowmaster exhaust system.

Next idea is gears, currently have 2.73 I think and want to go either 3.55 or 3.73. My question is, what is a normal install with all the necessary bearings etc. going to run me at the local speed shop or garage. Also, what should I make sure they include in the install. Thanks in advance! [sm=icon_rock.gif]

I paid 180 for my gears. Shop changed them for 150. Did the same thing as you.. 2.73 to 3.73 ... WOW!!!!! Highly recomend it.. Don;t forget the speedo gear too... You get dizzy watching the miles pile up on the odometer. Oh yeah.. and your mph is a little off.

How much for the speedo change, and do they do that at the speed shop as well?
Also, will the speedo be pretty accurate after the speedo gear change?

I would budget $500 for the whole thing done right by a good shop. Gears alone will run around $190 or so, good rear end rebuild kit with all the bearings is another $100 and the traction lock rebuild kit is around $50 too and I would definitely have it rebuilt while they are in there. Speedo gear is less than $10 and takes only minutes to install.
