Default catch me riding darkly..

my dash lights went out. all my fuses are fine. i thought it musta been a fuse cause its my dash, 3.5 tach, ac/heat controls...

any suggestions where else i can look.

btw: my headlights still work, and my dimmer works, well it works if i go all the way the dome light comes on..

ok so i was just driving and my headunit turned off and wont turn on.
again, fuses are all good, i havent checked the inline fuses out the ignitionbox but... yeah.

also my external tach used to work even tho the dash lights were off, but now that the headunit turned off that tach dont work anymore.

any pointers?

I know if you don't use the ford ground wire for an aftermarket headunit it will cause the dashlights to not work. I am going to guess even if you used the correct ford ground wire that you have ground wire that is off or messed up some how.

have you checked your fuses under the hood? It sounds as though a dimmer wire(is the orange wire behind the deck used, was it insulated?) is grounding out.

also by checking fuses did you check the ones you thought were related or did you check all of them? Circuits are often linked to one another so it is not uncommon for a fuse to blow that seems to have nothing to do with what you are looking at. When I suspect a fuse I check ALL the fuses.

i checked the one first associated with it but then i checked them all and they all are fine. i havent looked under the hood yet but i might try to take a look behind the headunit and see whats up back there. maybe not till tomorrow since its now dark and pretty cold out..

Recheck all fuses with a test light.Make sureyou have power on both sides of the fuse.
Fuse #4, 8, or 13 may be bad.
