This is going to be hard to explain.

When I'm driving and gearing up, car sounds real mean and nice. When I'm gearing down ... there's a rumble that I thought came from the mufflers, but a buddy of mine said the car is backfiring. I have Flowmasters 40 series. The car always made that sound, I just thought it was the mufflers but ... I'll try to get a sound clip of it and post.

There is a big difference between a rumble and a backfire, you could be right with it just being the exhaust. A sound clip should be able to tell us.

This is not the best but you can hear it. You can also hear my gearbox grinding as I put it in 3rd. hahaha
