RE: weight reduction
Well, like I said, I wasn't 100% on the figure, but I remember it was real high because I started taking it all out on my 86 T-bird right away. I gotta find that article, maybe it was a couple of things they took. Most sites say that they took out about 50 lbs of it or so, but it depends if you take it from everywhere I guess.

I know a lot or people consider this "rice" for some reason. But on my 95 i had a carbon fiber hood that weighed less then the box it was shipped in. And if i you truely dispise the way it looks i think ther is a technique to paint it.

well, the ride won't be good OB, it may not be as bad in a stang but my jeep doesnt have any in it and its rough and loud, but this may be because its a jeep and they r like that.

Ok, I found that article.
"Removing the sound deadening was the most time-consuming part of the job, despite the use of our powerful heat gun. The extra work was worth it though, because we removed a total of about 300 lbs." A Caged Animal, MMFF August 1999

RE: weight reduction
My buddy and I run similar trucks - he's got a 73 with no insulation or carpet at all, I've got an 86 with rubber floor and all the stock insulation on the firewall - his truck is WAY louder inside to the point that I wouldn't like to drive it for more than 30 minutes or so. Mine on the other hand I've driven 26 hours straight with breaks for fuel, food, and flat tire on the trailer.
My stang is loud, but it's open air so it doesn't reverb as much as a closed in one. It's also hot inside - on a mid 70's day you sweat your *** off due to the exhaust heat.
I thought about removing the heater, but unfortunately WA weather requires a heater for most months. The A/C compressor will be gone this summer since the lines were removed last year and it doesn't work at all.
