Default Should I remove PS?

my friend brian has a 5.0 with lotta mods (the guy i raced a while back remember)... well he has PS removed and said that with the slightest movement of the car he can turn the wheel with ease, car just has to move, even if its 1 MPH he said. his rack is a flaming river 15:1, i think stock is like 13.5:1. I might remove PS to make more room under there for later mods :hint hint:

I removed my power steering and installed the Flaming River manual rack and pinion and like it just fine but I don't drive on the street with mine anymore, strip only. It steers just fine and is less effort than the old power rack without the pump installed.

you can always goto a 205/60r16 in the front, slightly over inflated that would help with steering.

the previous owner (said idiot) of my stang blocked off the power steering. it is a power rack without the power. how hard will this be on the street? do you know of any ford manual racks i could get at a junkyard?

only reason some manual racks are easy is because the ratio is increased. 15:1 reduction is just as easy to turn as 13:1 with power. (except when standing still) but you shouldnt turn the wheel while standing still even with P/S so i think no P/S would be ok for a DD.

MY old 73 f100 had a hard time steering especially in parking lots so i put a larger steering wheel on it and that helped out a lot.

Nice...

All that's going to be affected really is you're effort standing still.

mkspeed, with you power rack not getting assisted, it's going to be different. You'll have to scrounge the salvage yards or buy a new manual rack.
