Default Coolant rails on the Passenger side.

you know those 2 metal rails on the passenger side right above the lower intake, they lead to the heater core. well since my heater core has been diverted with a rubber hose, the two rails are basically connected to eachother right where they should lead into the heater. anyway i was thinking, can i just remove these two rails alltogether and the cut the temp sensor out and fit it in with the rubber hose on the water pump?

kidna hard to explain, but i see no reason to have these rails, i can just cut them down and reattach them, it would make life a lot easier for me as far as room goes.

also, my lower intake doesnt have that extra hole with the plug in it. so i dont know where to put the sensor, i can make a T fitting and run both holes through it. thats all i can think of.

that big metal block coming out of the lower intake though, the one that the metal rail comes out of, can i unscrew that and screw the sensor in there? are the thread sizes the same?

I guess you can remove those metal tubes as long as you keep the ECT installed in something where it sees a constant flow of engine coolant so that the ECU is not negatively affected. can't say anything about the thread sizes, sorry.

I was at the shop today ant this thread came to mind so I started to play around with a spar engin I have . Hear is what I came up with

The sensor is to small to therad into the lower intake so what will work you know the brass fitting you get with the auto meter temp gauge it has the manafol thred on the outside and the sensor therad on the inside . just screw the bushing into thr mannfold and the sensor into the bushing , just go to the speed shop and tell the guy that you need the the auto meter temp gauge bushing for a ford thare is olny one

Now thare is a T in the line to get collant into the trottle body so that is going to hafto be plumbed off the watter pump and use reduseing barbs to get it down to the right size I think it is 3/8 or 1/4 . now this was on a spare engin so it did not have the return line off the trottle body and I run carbs so I dont know whare it goes . if you do hafto plumb it back some how the line off the pump is the feed and the hole in the intake whare the bushing is is whare it returns to . if you hafto run it back make shure it ends ur behind the T-STAT and dont run 2 feads to the T-body or the collant will just sit in thare

Hope this helps
