yeah I'm rebuilding one right now...you need to make sure the thrust washers are kept in place on the back side of them..they are sort of dish shaped....but space them equally apary on both sides and rotate them back in by turning the axle...when they are in right the pin will slide back through both sides..it may take a few stabs and next time ask before performing work you have never done the do's and don'ts!!.....car must be in nuetral and hold the diff with one hand while rotating axles or what happened to you will happen when the pin is removed

I think you can do one at a time, but you will have to insert the axle on the one that is in to hold it in place

the side gears fell out???? the smaller ones have to come out first before the sides will come out..and if the sides fell out just push them back in place making sure no shims fell out or cluch/friction plate fell out.....and the smaller ones you have to put them both in at the same time /same distance apart or when you try and rotate the assembley back in they won't line up with the pin hole.....trust me I know..I just had to mock reassemble one this very morning and move it off one of my bays at work on to another bay...I couldn't strand the car on our inspection bay as parts won't be in for a while
