Default Its always something

So im finally getting to wrapping up my short block and guess what. The ARP timing/waterpump bolt set i ordered doesnt fit. When i match up the timing cover to the block all is well. Then i go to put the old water pump on just to mock up the engine so i can go on a trip and the holes dont all line up and the bolts do not fit through all of the holes. DAMN. Now the block is an 1980 model 302 and im not really sure what year the timing cover came from it was an ebay purchase. but the water pump that came with the engine definitely doesnt match up. Also i ordered a set of ARP oil pan bolts and it came sealed and all but was 5 bolts short. WTF anyone got any suggestions???
