Default Do all of the cowls on the fox bodies rust?

On the fox bodies is it common for the cowl to rust? I have been looking at a few fox bodies and a lot of them are rusted in the cowl, is this common on these cars?

Its fairly comman in the four-eyed stangs since there older try a search on foureyedpride for cowl rust and you will see some gruesome pictures. I didn't know it was common when I bought my 87 or I would have checked. I had most of my drivers cowl gone. I cheaped out and said f it and used fibre-glass

It's not just a problem with Fox's.
I would say it is common for cars that sit outside or are driven in rain or snow.
A car that is parked under trees it's whole life will get leaves and other tree matter built up in the cowl will be more susceptible to rust, with the matter holding moisture.
Another reason there is not much paint in there.

Down here in the south I've never really seen a rusted foxbody.

The only bad rust I found was the floors and the cowl on mine. also the quarter extensions but its a gt so it really doesn't matter its not structural and you can't see it.

Ive seen a bit in the vert, mostly surface... if anything I'll hit it with some rust encapsulator and be fine, nothing structural tho, that car is clean.

the '86 I'm more concerned about the door and what could be lurking under the carpet, the car is pretty solid, but who really knows, it spent time in jersey
