Default must i adjust timing with nos

i bought a dry nitrous system for my 5.0 and wanted to know if i have to change the timing. is it a must????? if so how many degrees.

yes you do. i dont remember how much; someone will chime in here with how much. i believe its one degree for 10 hp or something like that

i thought it was 1 degree per 50shot, so if you have 100shot take it off 2degrees, if you have 200 shot take it off 4 degress. Dont quote me on this though, i may be wrong.

if you have a stock engine, non high compression and 93 octane, no more than 12* on 150 shot

Its easy for those carboned up pistons to detonate prematurely during a shot.

Never use in first and only use at WOT.


That will help you last a very long time

It'll also depend on what fuel you run when you're spraying.

for every 50 hp shot it is 1-2 degrees from factory base timing setting..so if you run a 150 shot it is reccommended that after 150 shot like with a 175 lets say you should go 1 step colder on the plugs and even at 150 I'd rather be safe than sorry so I'd do 1 step colder on the plug and pull 4 to 6 degrees timing from base.....it's better to be safe than sorry cause when your pounding the motor with NOS you most likely will never hear the detonation even though it is present and before you know it..it'll of hammered the main bearings and or burned a piston
