Default Electronic fan temp controller kit\ Worth it?

I found this kit that turns the fan on when it reaches 160* and also comes with a 160* thermostat, and was wundering if it is a good deal for 74.95 and if they are ok to run because it takes controle away from the computer.
Any info would be great
