if you buy a 75-80amp from say autozone for the 87-93foxes you dont need to do anything. i just picked one up and am installing it today. If you grab a 94-95 130amp from autozone you will have to shave your bracket and rewire it. If you search you will find the write up for it on how to install it. Why exactly are you wanting to upgrade over the 75/80amp stock alt?
B/c the stock amped alt is crap and doesn't charge worth a F**k!! The 3g is the way to go!

I want to upgrade to a better alternator because when I start the car, it dies. Have to gas it for a bit then drive around before it will idle on its own. Changed battery, so I know it's not it. Like I said, supposedly there are underdrive pulleys and I know it causes problems.

Sounds like you have a vaccum leak if the car is not idling properly, I would look into that if I were you. Been there, done that, and the vacuum hose was the problem with my idling issues.

Actually I'm not sure...because it idles kind of high, and then just yesterday it started dying when I turned the car on. So I don't know....could be a vacuum leak but I've looked all over the engine to find vacuum connections and there aren't any hoses. I don't know.....but the voltage on the dash gauge reads pretty low. Just above the red marks at the bottom. About halfway between "empty" and halfway.

I had to get an overdrive pulley after I installed my 3G 200 amp alternator to cure my charging issues, I did the 4 guage power and ground cables on the car and did everything possible, the overdrive pulley cured my problem with charging.

So most are suggesting just go to Autozone or something and get an alternator? Thing is...I don't really like Duralast, but it has a lifetime warranty so I guess that's good.
