GT40P head swap / q's
i asked this somewhat in the Classic Mustangs section as i own a 67 also but i figured i might have a little more luck here.
i just got a set of GT40P heads that were redone but they don't have the pedistals or the rockers. these are going on my 289 (bored .30 over) - i have a set of new comp cams 942-16 springs, and retainers as i'm adding in a comp XE268 cam (.456 lift) but might step up to a larger one which is why i got the springs.
question is, which rockers and such do i need to assemble these with that won't kill my bank account as also should i go ahead and get new pushrods (which i believe are the stock 40 year old ones) and if so which length for those? the stock 6.812?
thanks guys.

arent those dual springs(im almost positive they are, but could have the PN wrong in my head)
you will need to bring them to a machine shop and have them cut the seats for dual springs, its a simple job, we do it relativly often, and i had my heads done aswell(gt40, comp dual springs).and its not too expensive to have done.
u said springs and retainers... you got locks too right?
whats that cams specs btw? i have the xe270(very happy with it by the way, and everyone else w. an xe cam seems to be too, that i know)
you can get away with stock rockers/pushrods, im doing this right now, but i advise against it. id suggest, while their at the machine shop for the seats, to get the heads cut down where the rockers go for screw in studs and guideplates(relativly cheap to buy, labor isnt too bad to get them cut/tapped), then a decent set of RRs, scorpion comes to mind, crane, comp, etc... all good brands... can be had for about 250.
and yes i suggest at the least, hardened pushrods... their what 40 bucks? if you do the stud mount RRs like i just suggested youll want to get a differant length PR anyway
hope that helps

that's cool, well the heads i got were cut and the seats and all that crap fresh valve job. - the stock springs can handle up to what .500 lift? so i wouldn't even have to swap springs would i?
i won't be going with any crazier cam i guess if i can get away with the stock springs and such - i kinda wanted to keep the peds since they're cheaper but i don't have the bolts.
so what all do i need to get ? is there a specific on summit or anything where i can get studs and rockers? or.. - pretty new to the pushrod game as i've stuck with my modular and the toyota 2JZ so i don't know much on these

ok if ur on a budget just grab some cheap pedistal rockers, theyll either come w. the bolt, or u can buy some bolts... i forget the size, i have a set or two i can check if need be
and no stock springs/locks/retainers WILL NOT sufice.... your going to have to upgrade them

alright cool, yeah i don't know the sizes for any of it they're stock but had a valve job and such iwas going to get the Crane pedistal ones from Summit the CRN-44746-16 (crane energizer roller rockers) / 5/16 mount and wasn't sure if they came with the bolts to hold em down which is pretty much all they list for the GT40P's i found :unless i did something wrong
and i'll get the heads cut i guess unless i can find some springs that will work with these heads that i can get new (i can return the other springs)
