Default F'n idle!!!

Ok, so my idle is really pissing me off. So when i was first resetting my idle abouta month ago, i had to set it at about 1100. Whenever i lowered it to about 900(so you could hear the cam) it would idle there fine, but once i shut it off, then restarted it, it would not hold. For instance i would turn the ignition, and it would start, then cut off. The only way to keep it from doing that was to give it some gas on start up.

So thats one thing. I want to keep it at about 900 so i can hear my cam, but it won't start right. The only way i could keep it from cutting off on start up was to bump the idle. How can i fix this???

And my next question is also about idle. Today, whenever I pulled to a light in where i sat for about a minute or two, my idle raised about 150rpms. And i didn't know why. When approaching a stop, i would put it in neutral and it would be fine, idling at the 1100 that i stated above. Then after about 10-15 seconds of sitting, it would raise to about 1250-1300. I don't understand it.

Oh yeah, then later on when driving to the store, it was idling at 950, instead of the usual 1100. I'm not sure if the rapid drop in temperature had any effect on it. It was in the 20s here today, which is really strange for GA.

any help would be appreciated

oh, and i put on a new IAC, and it didn't do crap. I think it may be time to run codes.

Did you set your timing first and check for vacuum leaks?
Is your throttle returning properly?
Did you disconnect the IAC motor when adjusting your base idle?

With the IAC disconnected crank the throttle plate open with the screw a few turns and start the motor.
Warm the car up and adjust your idle/throttle plate screwto the desired setting.
Reconnect your IAC and idle should be fine.
