Good tires and suspension, and I've heard that if you're going to remain mostly stock then 3.73 is a good ratio, but if you're going to toss a bunch of power at it then 3.55 is better.

Good tires does not mean cheap summer tires either. If they've got a 30k mile treadwear warranty, they're too hard.
