Default Best stall speed with F-Cam

Looking for opinions ona converter. I'll be running an AOD, 4.10 gears, with anF-cam in my 89 LX hatch. I'm not sure how much the carweighs, but the onlyplace I reduce weight from stock is I'm running Twisted Wedge heads, and Weld Drag-Lites (skinnies up front). I also will be removing the rear seat, but keeping the AC, power windows and power steering. I'm thinking I'll need 2800 - 3200?. Gimme your thoughts.
Thanks

honestly!!! I'd do at least 3500.......cause it'll start to flash before it hits 3500...I got a friend with a 68 cougar and a 89 roller cam block with a f-cam in it and a tci street fighter c-4 and I put a 3000 stall in it to start and it'd start flashing around 2500 when foot braking.....and the best 60 foots were 1.87's with no wheel spin...should of had 1.7's no problem with a different convertor...if it'll mainly be a strip car..I'd do a 3500..but if it'll be street strip than 3000 will be okay

It will be both street & strip, but not a daily driver. How will a 3500 act on the street?.
Thanks

not to sure....isn a month or two my friend is suppose to bring the 68 cougar back into me to swap convertors for the new race season....but we could tell when foot braking it..it wasn't enough and they had 4.11 gears in it.....but 3500 shouldn't be all that bad..if you don't already have a shift kit in yours then I'd put one in

3500 isn't going to be bad on the street. It's going to use more gas and you might want to invest in an aftermarket transmission cooler. The looser the converter the more heat it generates taxing the small cooler in the radiator. I agree with mjr46, a 3500 would be the thing to go with and if you don't have a shift kit get one.

i had a 3500-3800 stall
sn95 331 h/c/i 3.27's
GET A TRANNY COOLER, FIN TYPE!!!!!
i could foot brake to 3k

it started to flash around 3500, and it is just fine on the street. you need lock up, if not a 3500 stall is going to just keep stalling and create alot of heat.

Thanks for the replies. I am planning on staying with a lock-up converter. I will also be installing a shift kit, epoxy mod, and a cooler. I guess I need to save up the money and look for a 3500 - 3800 stall?

Personally seems a little steep for that cam when it starts making power before 3 grand, but if you plan on going past 3 grand then definitly absolutely get a separate trans cooler.

At what rpm does the f-cam start to make power?. I don't see that information on the FRPP website?.. Most converter sites I've been to say, choose a stall speed approximately 500 rpms higher than the rpms in which the cam starts to pull?
