Default OVER HEATING!!!!

I have a 88 LX 5.0, and I am running hot now. Its fine when it sits but on a short drive it goes to 260. I have a new thermostat, water pump, and an electric fan. I checked to make sure the thermostat works and it does. Also have a new cap for the radiator, and a temp sensor. Any help would be great. Thanks Adam

Are theyre any leaks? Check around for leaks around the water pump gasket area. Maybe your radiater isnt up holding up anymore, check that out too. You may need a new one. Thats all I can think of right now.

did you try leaving your radiator cap off while idiling for a while maybe it is air locked. When the t-stat opens you will probably get a lot of air then the water level will drop way down in the radiator.

Just keep a garden hose ready to keep it full, it is probably air pushing the water out. Dont let your engine hit 260 it cant be good.

when i first got my mustang i replaced the t-stat and flushed the cooling system and this was my problem, air lock. the engine temperature shot up after a few min and blew water out the radiator cap relief. after removing the cap and letting it warm, air pushed some water out and i was able to refill it and problem solved . I hope this is your problem Good Luck!
