Default Serpentine belt trying to slide off of water pump?

I've been having a strange problem with my serp. belt. I just deleted the smog, and got a shorter belt (Gates). I routed the belt so it goes from the alt. straight down to the crank, then up around the water pump pulley, over to the p/s then back again. The belt has been riding towards the front of the car and it's even slowly wearing out that edge of the belt from itriding on the lip of the pulley. What can i do to stop this? The belt lines up into the grooves in all the pullies, and the tensioner is working. It's like the p/s pulley is not quite lined up with the water pump pulley.

I took some washers and put them on the inside of my water pump pulley to space it out further, I had the same problem as you.

Ok, that's a good idea. How many washers did you use?
