Default Cardinal sin mustang swap

I have a really nice and straight 2.3 93 mustang notch with factory everything except for the 5.0. I'm gonna do a v8 swap im well competent on the basic swap of a sbf in general. That is not what im asking. I wanna know if anyone out there has or knows someone that has put a small block chevy in a fox body. I dont wanna do this because im a bow-tie nut just because metro atlanta emissions dont put up with any crap and have no sympathy for hot rodders. Getting the sbc in the car is no problem and i know how to do that but my question is what are my tranny options and how much modification for the tranny crossmember. Any help is highly appreciated

ok what? You want to put a 350 in because of emissions? 5.0's pass emissions too.

but whatever.

The T5 (stock tranny) also came on camaros and whatnot, so you could just get a chubby bellhousing (or whole tranny).

Yes i realize that a stock 5.0 will pass emissions. A T 5 under 400 hp plus nitrous is not gonna last long.

I saw one with a 350 before, it is not too hard to do. You will have to mess with getting the Chevy motor mounts installed in the right spot first then see where your trans lines up and modify your crossmember from there.
You can use almost any trans that bolts to the Chevy engine as long as you modify the crossmember for it.

ok well what the hell is your problem then? put whatever tranny the chevy pukes like on there, not like you're bolting it to a Ford block. Get a tremec or a t56 or richmond 6 speed or th400 or whatever you want. And what does your sig mean anyway? A 614 is like 10 liters, not 2.3.

Getting the engine in is not gonna be the problem there is a company that offers the tubular k member with a million engine options. And getting a tranny is not the problem either. Im worried about what im gonna have to do to the trans tunnel to get the shifter to come up through the correct hole (i.e. not one that i cut with a sawsall) thanks for the help.

PS i know a 614 is not 2.3 liters. but thats what the kids seem to think because a fox body mustang has a 5 inch cowl hood. but i bought it like that.

Like I said before, chuck a T-5 in it.

You going to be doing more than 500 lb-ft, drag launches with slicks and moderate clutch upgrade? If so perhaps you should look at the t56.

I know that the mustang tranny and the gm tranny are both borg warner t5's but are they the same exept for the bellhousing and linkage? because I have researched the gm t56 to sbf and i know the trannys are the same but no one will sell you just the bellhousing for a that application except for maybe mcleod. not sure. If anyone else has any imput its appreciated.

This is gonna be the only way I can make the power (relatively cheap) that i want and have the car remain street legal. The only other way I could make power would be go with the original plan of a 351 then put the id tags from a 79 or 80 car. The problem as you know this is hiiiiighly illegal this is the only way i can make a non 25 year old car emmisions legal. I have a friend that had an 87 registered under a race car in insurance. Took it to get his emmisions sticker. They rejected the car and impounded it and sold it as a parts only car. So imnot tryin that.
