Default rusted floor pan

ok i have a 79 mustang and the floor pans are rusted. its worse on the pass side but its not all the way up, it is floor board where the back seat riders feet go. its rusted all the way through in a couple of spots, can it be patch or would it be best to replace the whole thing. im trying to do it as cheap as possible cause i have other things that i need to buy

Its best to cut them out and weld in a new floor pan. You can patch if you want, with whatever type of stuff you want, but if its that bad the rust is still gonna spread until your whole floorpan HAS to be replaced.

Best way to stop rust is to remove all the rust with maybe a wire wheel or something, then treat the area with some rust inhibitor. If the area is weak you can reinforce it with a welded plate or the best thing to do is just replace the floor pan, or cut the area out and weld in another piece of metal. Naval jelly works wonders to remove rust as well.</P>
