coolant drain plug location
hey guys, me and my friend just boight a 86 hatch project car 5.0, and we were driving it fine for about 4 days or so and then topped off all the fluids, i put gas in it and drove it home, later that night we go to crank it up and it jkust turns over about 3 or 4 times the a giant puff of white smoke comes out the water pump and throttle body, the car does it constantly with no crank up, we check the radiator and no coolant!!! so im think a head gasket blew and all the coolant got sucked in the motor. does anyone know where the coolant drain plug for the block is?

RE: coolant drain plug location
there is no drain plug on the block..only on the radiator on one of the side tanks if equipped..mine doesn't have one so I take the lower radiator hose off...perform a block check with a kit at any parts store and pressure test cooling system and look for leaks

RE: coolant drain plug location
there is no drain plug on the block for coolant, the only coolant drain plug is on the lower part of the rad in the pass side... looks like you have to drain the oil if its milky, your gaskets are shot...
from the way it sounds, its time fora rebuild

RE: coolant drain plug location
damn! i was hoping there was, i work in the diesel dep. at a ford dealership and all the new motors have them 3.0-7.3 so i was wishing the 5.0 had one, yeah im going to do a leak and comp test and see what's goin on i hope it's just the head gaskets, or if it's not i got a full 85 motor with like 120,xxx on it so ill just swap the card style to efi and see what i can do with the current motor that's crappin out
