Default what is needed for a mass air conversion?????

ok so im about to do a major over haul on my mustang and the first place to start is with the mass air conversion. i am not 100% sure of what i need to do it. do i need the a9l computer for it? if so, what is the best aftermarket computer to go with? i heard the AEM but i wasnt sure. i thought they were mainly for the 4 bangers but ya just never know now a days. please let me know
