The new gauge, if you're going aftermarket should come w/ a new sending unit. You will need to install that also. The factory one will be different as far as the gauge reading correctly.

^ Yes and also if you are going through changing the sending unit, I would advise on getting a Mechanical guage since they tend to be a little more accurate then an electronic guage based on my experiences.

ok i understand what your saying.

Nowthe gauge im looking atis cheap aftermarket gauge at advance auto parts, it is however mechanical as suggested.

Now it doesnt mention anything about a new sending unit....?

What gauge wire is used for the temp to sender?

mech gauge on temp sensor usually has a copper wire that is surrounded by spiral protecting wire and comes preattached to sendoe and gauge...no wiring neccessary except for the lighting and elec gauges you wire up...I usually use 14-16 gauge wire

[ul][*]100° to 280° F[*]Back-Lit™ illumination for night use[*]Full 270° sweep for increased visibility[*]Rear twist-on ring mount design makes mounting simple[*]Includes the necessary adapters and fittings for most popular vehicles – foreign and domestic[/ul]
Mechanical gauges don't use wire for the sending unit. It's going to be something like a copper line.

I prefer electrical, JMO. Haven't had the first problem w/ any of mine.
