Default paint for headers...

The headers on my mustang have some surface rust on them and i was wondering if there is any paint that would withstand the heat that i could put on them. Would the high heat engine enamal spray paint by duplicolor work for headers? It says 1200 degrees.

I've been using VHT for 30+ years.
The thing with it is to have the headers REAL clean, sandblast the old rust off them, then wipe them down with lacquer thinner.
Headers should be at least at room temperature. Living in Arizona, I just put them out in the sun for awhile.
Light coats of paint, several. Let them dry for at least 24 hours and you're done.
Sounds like a lot of work but it's worth it......

I strongly recommend staying away from Duplicolor header paint. I used it before and it blistered off the first time i ran the car.

VHT Flameproof paint FTW! I redid my headers with VHT header paint and it looks MINT!

Note: Do not use any more paint than you need to cover the surface, excess paint can cause ugly results.

Is VHT only paint? Or is it like a coating to keep in the heat too?
