I watched my friends at the local machine shop do it many times, if they are an oily mess they go in the tank to get the worst off so you don't get all that oil in the media blaster. After, they go in the media blaster if needed. Blow them out and do what work needs to be done, then they go back in the tank to get any remaining media out, are blown out again,assembled and painted.

P Zero, compare the "cheap" carb cleaner to the "better" stuff and you'll see what i mean. gumout leaves oil behind like your spraying WD40 on the damn thing, but the wally world stuff works quiet well and is uber cheap.

also, steel shot > sandblasting
