Default CAI & speed density

Looking at the CAI's on E-Bay and they all list as 89-93. I see on Summit they offer an CAI adapter kit for the speed density Stangs. Can I buy the E-Bay CAI and the adapter from Summit and work just fine. I think tha adapter reduces the intake tube down or something. Somebody please let me know?

What is the adapter for exactly, it looks to have possibly a 4" to 3" reducer pipe and also a brace. Where is the pipe supposed to be braced at, just before the filter or closer to where the MAF sensor should be?
