Default fouled plugs

ok so i posted before about the probs ive been having. i pulled all my plugs tonight and they are all fouled with gas. the oil smells like gas and is thinned out. i pulled the pcv valve and it too smells like gas. i have been driving it with anopen breather on one side and stock valve cover on the other, which i didnt realize that it's been pulling unmetered air. i really cant even think what it is. im also going to do a compression test.

First things first, check the gap on the plugs. If its too big the spark wont be hot enough and could cause your unburned fuel situation. Second, change the oil. Your oil being too thin can and will cause undo wear on the internals of your motor.
Then do the compression test, and yes pull the relay, and depending on what year and model, unplug the coil. Also, when doing the compression test let the needle bounce 5 times. Then youll have an accurate reading.

my gap is set at .054 factory spec. maybe i should go tighter? yea ill unplug the coil its an 88. should i cange the oil before the compression test. when i turn it over by hand it sounds like the cyls are washed off.

Um.... .54 is factory? Really? That seems WAY too big. I thought it was .42- .46 ....Look at the catalyst sticker under the hood, it should have the gap size right on it.

.54 is stock for gap. If your oil has alot of unburned fuel in it you do need to change it, you could do internal damage.
