couple questons about roller lifters

RE: couple questons about roller lifters
roller cam blocks came in mustangs and grand marquis and a few other cars...as for adding a roller cam to a non roller block...you have to use the retro fit cam and expensive retro fit 400 dollar lifters..and the cam choices are minimal on the retro fit side..it's cheaper and easier just to get a roller cam block and build it from there

I know 85 and up mustangs are roller blocks unless the 85 was an automatic then all you need to do is drill holes in the valley for the spider and put in all the roller lifters etc, most small block windsor blocks from 85 on are either roller or roller ready which means all you have to do is install the spider and holders and roller lifters. You can tell by looking at the lifter it will have a roller on the end instead of being flat and you cant interchange unless you change the cam and everything else.

if on the block code it is a e5,e6, or e7 good id that it is a roller block. ex E5AE would be a 1985 block. First letter (E) is the decade, the 5 is the year of that decade, A=Ford car line, the last letter indicates the engineering group--in this case, E=engine

[sm=WTFsgign.gif][sm=shootshoot.gif][sm=chairshot.gif]uh no......non roller blocks have to have the retro fit set up used!!! the difference is in the depth of the lifter bores.....to use a roller cam in a non roller block with out the retro set up lifters you need to use a retro fit cam that is ground on a distinct base circle...cause if not the lifter will protrude out of the bores and oil the lifter valley.....there are no roller ready blocks...it's either a roller block or a flat tappet equipped block
