Oil pump question
I am dropping my oilpan to change a gasket and I was wondering if I should do a pump at the same time. It has about 130,000 miles on it, but I haven't had any issues to lead me to think I need one. Should I do it just because?

RE: Oil pump question
if you get the pan all the way out then why not...but sometimes I've just dropped the pan enough to slide a new gasket in...it just depends on how much extra work you want to do

RE: Oil pump question
IMO, I would not put a high pressure pump on an engine with 130,000 miles on it. Could cause lots of leaks thru gaskets and seals that are marginal. Putting in a new OEM spec pump would be what I'd do.

RE: Oil pump question
Oil pumps rarely wear out. I've seen pumps scored and marked up all to hell and still deliver the volume.
The first thing to normally wear will be the bearings. Change those if you are at all concerned with oil pressure and don't waste your time or money on changinga pump that is most likely ok.
I agree on skipping thehigh pressure pump. Actually ahigh volume pump is a waste of time but you do know oil pressure is not seen by gaskets and seals.
