bolt stuck
ok, im switching out my headers with some shorteys, and thenut that connects the old header to the h pipe is completely locked up
after i decided that i wouldnt be able to loosen it by hand, i broke out the impact wrench, and it wouldnt break it either it almost feels like it cross threaded while it was backing out, but i cant get a good enough view of it to tell exactly whats goin on its on the passenger side by the starter, and i have to use an extension and one of those elbows just to get to it oh, and the socket is now stuck onto the nut so im wondering: how the hell do i get this stupid nut off? and, how do i get my socket free? any tricks or tips would be appreciated |
RE: bolt stuck
You could make your impact wrench turn to the right and work with it a lil to get it off. try soaking it with pb blast, if that doesn't work it's cuttin time.
cut the bolt |
RE: bolt stuck
+1 if you dont plan on reusing the header just snap it off

RE: bolt stuck
Heat it. OxyAcetylene works best if you got it.

RE: bolt stuck
i like to use heat, impact and some pb sometimes..... try working the bolt both on and off with the gun. a little propane torch will work but will take longer
if you cant get it with that, use some real torches, and get a bigger gun |
RE: bolt stuck
just use a long extention and a breaker bar and snap it off put some nads behind it!!!:D
